INOMETA’s newest business segment “Thermoplastics” brings thermoplastic composite products into series production. Our new website and the embedded image video show our high tech production process in action.
Laser assisted tape winding uses thin fiber reinforced tapes that are placed on a rotating mandrel by a robot guided application tool. Before being placed on the mandrel, the tapes are heated up by a laser source and are hereby fused to each other. No further chemical linking or curing required.
Shortened process chains and a high degree of automation allow for series production of hundreds of thousands of parts per year. Chemical resistance of thermoplastic polymers combined with thin wall thicknesses of wound parts can create new advantages in the field of pump technology or for high volume injection molding inserts.
